Sunday Morning Sermon Series

We have recently been considering, on Sunday mornings, the Ten Commandments as the document of God’s covenant promise to His people. All the sermons in this series are available on our YouTube channel if you missed any.

So, what happened when Jesus came? Didn’t he abolish the Old Covenant law, after all we are happy to eat pork and wear clothes make of mixed fibres? And didn’t the Apostle Paul write, ‘we are not under law but under grace.’ So what relevance, if any, do the Ten Commandments have for us? In order to answer this we need to look again at Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7). Here Jesus says, ‘Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets.’ We need to do some thinking. Over the next few weeks we’ll do this under the following headings:

  • Salt and Light

  • The Abiding Law

  • New Covenant Demands 1

  • New Covenant Demands 2

  • Living for God

  • Giving to God

  • Trusting God
